More About Darren

I qualified as a Personal Trainer in 2005 and since then I gained my Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Therapy. In that time, I have worked with a great variety of clients. My background of injury rehabilitation and prevention makes me an ideal choice for anyone recovering or suffering from a bone, muscle or joint injury, but maybe still has other fitness/body related goals they want to work towards as well.

I mainly work at The River Club in Worcester Park and my understanding of how to efficiently progress and regress exercises (a key component in rehabilitation) has brought many older clients to me and together we have built strong foundations in the gym and helped them grow in confidence.

You do not have to be a member of the River Club to train with me there.

My approach to all challenges I’m asked to help with is a simple one. And that is to focus on being ‘better’ and not ‘perfect’. If you want to get from A to B then no matter where you start and where you want to get to, you have to start by improving on what you were doing already. If you can achieve this then you have started your journey and you’re heading the right way. Don’t put extra pressure on yourself and cause stress worrying about trying to be perfect, 99.9% of the time – it is not necessary. And that stress can have some seriously negative side effects on what you’re trying to achieve any way.

Since 2015, I have taken a keen interest in nutrition, including becoming a level 1 Precision Nutrition Coach. This interest has led me to teach myself to cook and become confident enough to now experiment with recipes in the kitchen which in turn led me to creating The Healthy Grub Club, a monthly meal plan, including 15 recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, for those people either looking to control their calorie intake or just eat healthier.

My motto is “think better, not perfect”.
