PHPSESSID
My Website has been built using WordPress which places the ‘session cookie’ PHPSESSID on your computer when you arrive on the Website.
The PHPSESSID cookie is a random string of numbers and letters which is deleted when you close your web browser.
What does it do? As you move around the Website, this session cookie tells the Website that you are the same person visiting the pages and are not a new visitor. The cookie does not identify you personally and I do not link it to any other information I may hold about you.
GOOGLE ANALYTICS
I use Google Analytics to analyse how people arrive at my Website, how they move around it, etc. Google Analytics helps me understand what portions of my Website are of interest to people and how I may be able to improve our Website. Google Analytics uses a number of different cookies which are retained for different periods of time.
